Geoffs Genealogy Second Update – 01 April 2012

A few weeks ago when I opened my email inbox I had the surprise of my life.
I had received an email from Steffan, in Sweden, telling me of a “nice photo album” that he has in his possession. Apparently he purchased it about 20 years ago on a Stockholm flea market, and since then he has been looking at the images on the pages, and wondering about the persons and family they portray.
Steffan has been searching the internet from time to time over the years, looking for information about these people, without any luck until that day, when he found Geoffs Genealogy and saw that very family listed in the Bankes Pedigree.
The family in question is the Wilkinsons of Christchurch Lodge in Leamington, Warwickshire. Steffan knows of Edward Wilkinson and his wife Sarah Esther (nee Hale), and their children. He has silhouette pictures of a John Wilkinson from Carlton, York, who died 2 December 1831. To cap it all, the collection contains a silhouette picture of Mr David (Banks) Price (1777 – 1840), born in Cardiganshire and died in Dowgate London. He was a businessman and Common Councillor in London, and the grandfather of Sarah Esther Wilkinson. There are also some pictures of their property.
I have told Steffan what I know about the Wilkinsons, and has been good enough to let me have digital copies of a few of these images, including the silhouette of David Price. As soon as I can I shall be contacting the people I know who are descended from the David Price, to share these pictures with them. However, Steffan is very keen to make contact with a member of this Wilkinson family, so that they can have the opportunity of seeing these pictures.
If anybody reading this is able to put Steffan in touch with living descendants of this Wilkinson family I would be very grateful if they would contact me, so that I can put them in touch with Steffan. It would be lovely if we could make this connection.
As to how this Wilkinson family collection found its way to a Stockholm flea market 20 years ago, I leave that to our collective imagination!
