Thankyou very much for your comment. I’m glad you enjoyed reading my blog. I was very interested to see that the name of the son of Susannah Hawley McDonald was Sumerled Robert. No doubt a name that is prone to mis-spelling due to its rarity. I was also interested in your comment that Robert Collins McDonald was descended from Flora McDonald. I had read that previously, but had taken it with a bit of a pinch of salt, as Robert Hanham Collyer was quite likely to have made that up. Can you tell me which of Flora’s children Robert was descended from?

I’d also be interested to learn where your interest in this is derived from, if you care to share that with me.

You may wish to note that the son of Susannah Hawley MACDONALD nee Clarke is Sumerled Robert he was born 1837 in India. The Sumerled name appears in the MACDONALD line of her first husband Robert Collins MACDONALD who is the grandson of Flora.
