Hello Geoff, My name is Frank Parsons, the James Compigné you mention (ref 1943) was my gt gt gt gt Uncle. His father was Michael (jnr) whos grandfather was David Compigné, son of a clockmaker in Caen. We fled France in 1686, settling in London initially. David was city clockmaker in Winchester 1706 till his death 29/7/1757. About 20 of our family meet yearly in Win. for luncheon and afterwards for a church service. James was born at 6 mins after 3 in the afternoon on 20/5/1778. I have a little more information but it only relates to James and not your family I fear. Your site I found most interesting. All the best, Frank
