His father was Michael (jnr) whos grandfather was David Compigné, son of a clockmaker in Caen. We fled France in 1686, settling in London initially. David was city clockmaker in Winchester 1706 till his death 29/7/1757. About 20 of our family meet yearly in Win. for luncheon and afterwards for a church service. James was born at 6 mins after 3 in the afternoon on 20/5/1778. I have a little more information but it only relates to James and not your family I fear. Your site I found most interesting.
